Bodøryggen
A challenging yet rewarding hike, ideal for seasoned hikers seeking panoramic views and a memorable experience. Enjoy the 21-kilometer trek including about 1,000 meters of elevation gain.
The trail begins at Skaug, ascending steeply to Skaugtuva (626 meters above sea level). After the initial climb, the path levels out, guiding you along the Bodøryggen ridge. From here, you'll enjoy views of Vestfjorden, the Lofoten Wall, Bodø city, and the Børvasstindan mountains. The route continues over Løpsfjellet and Keiservarden, concluding at Wood Hotel Bodø. This approximately 21-kilometer trek includes about 1,000 meters of elevation gain, making it a substantial endeavor.
That said, you can just as well start at Wood Hotel Bodø, head past Keiservarden, and turn around halfway along Bodøryggen - making the hotel both your starting and ending point.
The trail is well-marked, but due to its length and elevation changes, we recommend wearing appropriate hiking shoes and carrying essentials like water, snacks, and weather-appropriate clothing. The weather can change rapidly, so be prepared for varying conditions.
Bodøryggen is best tackled during the snow-free months, typically late spring through early autumn, when the trail is most accessible and the views at its best.
Equipment available to borrow at the hotel:
Backpack
Binoculars
Hedlamp
Trekking poles
Café Turisthytta, adjacent to the lobby, is ready to fill your backpack with coffee on thermos, bottles with water and lemonade and packed sandwiches.
